Tulum Mexico

Tulum Mexico was definitely a trip I think back on with fond memories. It’s important to go at the right time of year as the heat can be intense. If you’re planning to go to the beach you need to be aware of sea weed season (April through October). I’ve been to this area in July and in October and would definitely say that October is a better time of year to go. If you’re on a budget then staying at a regular hotel near the down town area of Tulum will be much more affordable than the resorts directly on the beach. Also it’s good to know that a lot of the beachfront resorts are running on generator electricity and shut the power off at night which means no air conditioning and using mosquito nets.

I would recommend checking out the beach clubs, particularly Ziggy’s Beach Club. You will need to take a taxi there from downtown (unless you want to risk your life riding a bike down the several mile dirt road) but you can stay the whole day and enjoy the beach, food and drinks at a reasonable price. The two of us stayed there from 9am in the morning until around 5pm and spent around $100 USD on all the food and drinks we had that day.

I would also recommend checking out the ruins that make the area famous and the cenotes in the area for swimming as they are beautiful.
